Chrysler Has Best Sales for 2013 Since Bailout
2009 was a dark year for Chrysler company. Things were bleak and it was looking like one of the biggest American auto manufacturers was about to go under. Declaring bankruptcy seemed like the end until the government stepped in and get the auto maker alive by providing a much needed bailout. While controversial for the time, and still is to others, the bailout did provide Chrysler the time it needed to turn things around. In just a few short years, Chrysler had managed to increase their sales and is looking a lot better than those darker times. In fact, 2013 was the strongest year for Chrysler sales since the bailout.
Chrysler thanked the strong US sales of their Ram pickups and Jeep Grand Cherokee for the added boost. Both vehicles have been met with much popularity and in particular the Ram 1500, which was recently named the 'Truck of Texas.' While it's too soon to tell, the newly revamped and re released Jeep Cherokee also provided much help as drivers have taken a strong liking to the new design and reliability found only in Jeep products.

Ram 1500 Wins Truck of the Year!
The Ram 1500 has earned the Motor Trend 2014 Truck of the Year.
Nine trucks were in the finals for getting the award. The judges took a look at trucks that were either new or significantly upgraded this year. That included the Ram 1500, the Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota Tundra, and the new Ram ProMaster van, nine trucks total. Before the end, each of them were put through extensive tests and exercises.
The testing took place at the Continental Tire Automotive Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas. The evaluation took over a week to complete and took a look at qualities such as acceleration and towing. After seeing all the criteria, it was the Ram 1500 that stood triumphant over the competition .
The announcement of the award was given at the birthplace of the Ram truck, the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan. The full breakdown as to how the Ram 1500 did in the test will be revealed in the February issue of Motor Trend as well as on their website.
?For 2014 we had a large and highly competitive field of contenders for Motor Trend?s Truck of the Year,? said Edward Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend. ?At the end of the day, though, the Ram 1500 quickly rose to the top. Not only did it withstand our rigorous testing, it thoroughly impressed our judges with its vast array of standard and optional equipment, and, most notable, its fuel-efficient, segment-exclusive EcoDiesel V-6. With 420 lb-ft of torque and up to 28 ?Real MPG? highway, the EcoDiesel is a true game-changer. In fact it helped make Ram 1500 the Motor Trend 2014 Truck of the Year ? and the only consecutive winner in the history of the award.?
Winning the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award is a big deal. The Ram 1500 has been grabbing up the trophies left and right and making it clear that Ram is poised to make a big splash with the new Ram 1500 in the hearts of truck lovers everywhere.

Ram 1500 Leads the Large Trucks Sales Surge
Sales have always been the focus of
anyone talking about the auto industry for the past ever long. It's
the Cinderella story of an industry that seemed down for the count
and rescued at the last moment by the government. People have been
wondering if it was worth the price to bring the companies back and
so far, according to the sales, it seems like it's been a good
decision.
A clear sign of the success of the
recent upsurge in sales of the auto industry is trucks sales.
Analysts believe that this month will be the best month for sales in
the US since December of 2007. Leading the sales charge is large
truck sales, they are the fast-growing segment in the industry.
In particular, the Ram 1500 is at the
top, so much so that these same analysts predict that the 1500, along
with its competition, could hit the two million mark this year.
Growth for the segment is at a rate of 21 percent, which is bigger
than the rest of the industry. Ram is actually the fastest growing
truck brand in the US. Makes sense why they just introduced a diesel
engine for the upcoming 2014 model.

Chrysler Keeps Drivers Connected
Chrysler is working to keep you connected even when you’re
on the road. Cnet.com revealed that the
auto company is teaming up with Sprint to bring the new UConnect Access system
to two of the hottest cars of the year, the 2013 Ram 1500 and the SRT
Viper.
Uconnect in its current form brings drivers a host of
features already. Hands-free phone,
navigation system, digital audio, and it’s all tied into a single touchscreen
interface. UConnect Access is the next
step in the evolution of the system.
So what’s new? You
can now operate the rear view mirror frame with just the press of a
button. Get into an emergency and you’re
just another press away from assistance.
You can even synch up your smartphone with your car via an app that will
let you unlock the doors or even start up the engine. Don’t get too worried about focusing on your
phone too much when driving. Seriously,
seems like we’re not far away from driving around using our phones as
remotes.
UConnect Access will read out your text messages out
loud. You can respond back by just
voicing out your text, causing me to wonder why you haven’t just called the
person, but oh well. It’s a great way to
work against distracted texting drivers; I can’t help but think of the hilarity
possible in some awkward texts. Last
thing I need to do while driving my parents to the store is explaining the
context behind the things my friends send me.
How does Sprint fit into this? The service they are launching will be called
Velocity. It is described as a “end to
end solution” and is going to offer the companies like Chrysler “a data
connection, human-machine interface expertise for in-car electronics, and
telematics services.”
Velocity works on Sprint’s 3G network. The phone company is already looking into
implementing the service on an international scale. To achieve that goal, the car makers will need
to start putting cell radios in the cars so it works across borders in other
countries.
