Chrysler Supports Toys for Tots

I am always a strong supporter of when companies find new ways of giving back to people. Just in time for the upcoming holidays, Chrysler is looking to make sure that plenty of disadvantaged kids can still find themselves celebrating this year by donating to the Marine Toys For Tots. The way the program will work is that the Chrysler Group's LLC's Mid-Atlantic Business Center will be offering a $750 incentive to customers who are looking to get a 2011 or 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, Town & Country, or Journey. The Chrysler Group will donate $100 for each car sold. The dealers on the Mid-Atlantic region from Delaware to West Virginia are being encouraged to equal the donation and even be a drop-off point for the toys.

“Our dealers are deeply rooted in their communities, “ says Steve Zanlunghi, the director of the Mid-Atlantic Business Center, “and this is a good time and a good way for our company and our dealers to give back to the communities that support us. Toys for Tots is a perfect charity partner for us, and our dealer distribution network. It's a great way for us to give back to those fortunate, especially during this time of the year.”

With the hope that they will be able to raise thousands of dollars this holiday season, it's a wonderful thing to see Chrysler out there to help people who have fallen on terrible times in this economic climate. I'm not the only one who thinks that and so does Bill Grein the Vice President of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. He says of Chrysler that “their community service goals certainly align with those of that the Marine Corps has promoted for nearly 65 years through our Toys for Tots programs. With their generous support, we will be able to fulfill the Christmas holiday dreams of thousands of less-fortunate children in the Mid-Atlantic region.”

Chrysler Sponsor of 78th McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade

2010 Kenneth the Blue Elf - JB (7)

In just a little under a week, Chicago will be holding their 78th McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade. As a part of that, Chrysler is proud to announce that it is now a vehicle sponsor for the parade. That means Chrysler vehicles will be giving all the floats and even Santa himself a ride on November 24th. They have given 27 vehicles to the parade and its organizers. Among the vehicles being used to pull the floats are the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, and the Dodge Durango. All of these cars are award winners and will be showing that top-of-the-line towing first-hand. Another car being shown off will be the newly redesigned Chrysler 200 convertible which will be the car of choice for the celebrities and dignitaries being shown off in the parade.

Jeff Kommor, Chrysler Midwest Business Center Director, says that, “Getting the opportunity to share in this time-honored Thanksgiving Day tradition is a real privilege for the Chrysler Group.” He added, “We are especially excited to see Santa increase the power of his ride from eight reindeer to the HEMI V8 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee at the end of the parade.”

Phil Purevich, Executive Director of the Chicago Festival Association thanked Chrysler for, “Generously providing vehicles for use in the parade, including transportation for many staff and volunteers working hard to make this even happen.” Chrysler will also be featuring one vehicle from each of its brands to show off during the parade. That includes a list of fine vehicles like the Dodge Challenger, the Jeep Wrangler, Ram 1500, Chrysler 300, and the Fiat 500.

Thanksgiving parades are always a yearly highlight for not only myself but for many people. To see the good folks over at Chrysler provide a helping hand (and car) to the organizers and to the parade itself is wonderful. It's a real good chance to not only give back but to also show to the world why Chrysler provides some of the best rides out there.

Automobile Magazine's 2012 All-Stars List Includes Dodge Charger

Every year, the Automobile Magazine releases its list of what are, in their opinions, the best vehicles of the upcoming year. Last week, they released the names of the seven cars included on their list for 2012, and the Dodge Charger made the cut.

Automobile Magazine raved about the Charger's engine, calling it a “big car for big people who like big power.” They also mentioned the car's value without sacrificing quality, and the car was praised as a good choice for “mainstream” America while also having a fun streak. “Beneath those dapper duds,” the article praises, “you know it's capable of some mayhem.”

I am of the opinion that anything done well and true to itself, from a classic film to a good book, will have universal appeal. By strictly focusing on making a great car, Dodge has fully earned this honor for the Dodge Charger. With the combination of Automobile Magazine's endorsement and special deals on Dodge vehicles right now, hopefully more people will get a chance to drive the Charger.

October Sales Up 27 Percent, Boosted by Ram's High Sales Numbers

October is normally a slower month for car sales in the United States, but last month, Chrysler Group LLC saw a 27 percent jump in sales compared to last year.

The sales were boosted by the Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Ram pickup trucks which all did very well in October. By themselves, Ram pickup trucks saw a 21 percent increase in sales which is almost unheard of considering the tough economy.

There are several reasons why Chrysler Group LLC saw such a significant leap in sales this month, specifically for their SUVs and pickup trucks. First, Chrysler has gotten some really great press lately. The recent Consumer Reports survey, which ranked Chrysler very high in reliability, is a solid endorsement. Additionally, people are looking to enjoy the rest of their autumn weather, and they want automobiles that can handle camping and driving in the country. The Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee are already popular vehicles, and when people think about driving the back-roads of America, they think of Ram pickup trucks.

Chrysler Changing the Face of Hybrid Cars

When most people think about hybrid cars, they picture something that looks more at home on a Hot Wheels track than on the highway. Chrysler Group LLC is changing that image when it tests out hybrid trucks and mini-vans next year.

Some of the models that will be getting a hybrid boost include the Ram 1500 pick up trucks and Town & Country mini-vans. These models have been popular through the years, and with the hybrid boost, people will feel better driving them both for the fuel economy and environmental reasons.

Most car companies have been creating cars that conform to the technology or the idea of what a hybrid car looks like or drives like. It is interesting that Chrysler Group is taking models that people already love and then creating hybrid technology for them instead of the other way around. Not every household can get around in a tiny car. Families need big back seats and space for bikes, sports equipment, and backpacks. Some people wouldn't even consider buying a hybrid because they think there are more constraints to hybrid cars, but many people would reconsider that notion after seeing a hybrid Town & Country mini-van.

Keep an eye out for these test truck and mini-vans next year, and for the full line of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram vehicles, stop by Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, located at 212-19 Northern Blvd in Bayside, New York. You can also check out their inventory of vehicles online and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
