Chrysler Gives Toys for Tots $150,000.

About a month ago, the Chrysler Mid-Atlantic Group put out the word that they were helping this Christmas with Toys for Tots. The offer they gave to consumers was a $750 incentive to customers that were picking up a 2011 or 2012 Town & Country, Journey, or a Grand Caravan. Additionally, Chrysler would donate $100 for each car that was sold. The dealers that lined the eastern seaboard were also a drop-off point for toys.

In a continuation on that story, Chrysler presented Toys for Tots a check for $150,000. That check represents a $100 donation for every one of those Dodge vehicles sold during this event. Luckily, the incentive program continues on even after the delivery of this giant check. Chrysler Mid-Atlantic will still be making that $100 donation for the purchase of the select 2011 & 2012 vehicles. The dealerships will still be serving as a drop-off point for anyone looking to help out families in need, even after the holidays. This offer continues until January 3rd, 2012. The offer also includes an incremental $750 Holiday Bonus Cash towards a purchase of the 2011 and 2012 models that are part of the incentive.

It was a great treat to see what Chrysler had done to aid Toys for Tots back in November. It makes it even better to see the success the program ended up having. I only hope that when the offer ends in the new year, Chrysler will have an even bigger check to present to a program looking to help out those in need.

Chrysler Gets Perfect Score on HRC 2012 Corporate Equality Index

The Human Rights Commission recently released a report that evaluated 636 employers. On this list, only 190 employers managed to obtain a perfect score. Of those companies, Chrysler Group managed to score 100 percent on the HRC's 2012 Corporate Equality Index. While it's definitely a great thing to be on this report, the best part of the news is that this is now the sixth time Chrysler Group has been given a perfect score on the CEI since it was established in 2002.

The HRC is the educational arm of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, America's largest civil rights organization dedicated to LGBT equality. Ratings are based on the workplace policies and benefits. If a company gets the perfect score, that means that the company provides full parity for domestic partner benefits. This is not just in basic medical coverage but in retirement and benefits that affect families' medical and financial well-being. The standout for Chrysler Group's perfect score is that the company features coverage for transgender individuals which the HRC says has been notoriously overlooked.

In response to the report, Nancy A. Sea, the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Chrysler Group, said, “All of our employees at Chrysler contribute to the success of our Company. Chrysler Group prides itself in creating an inclusive business environment in which all people and ideas are appreciated and respected.”

The HRC report giving Chrysler the perfect score comes just after the company was also named in Hispanic Business magazine on their Diversity Elite 60 list. In March 2011, Diversity Inc magazine also named Chrysler on its 2011 list of “Top 50 Companies for Diversity.” This now sixth consecutive year for the company shows the commitment to diversity. It has been a hallmark of Chrysler to be continuing striving to be the best, especially when it comes to diversity and respect for people of all races and sexuality, and they take pride in the recognition they have received from the Human Rights Commission and Diversity Inc among others.

Conner Avenue Assembly Plant Reopening

Some big news for Dodge Viper lovers. “The next generation Viper will make its return to the product lineup in late 2012 as a 2013 model,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of SRT Brand and Motorsports. The best part of that news is not only the return of the Viper, but the fact that the car will mean the reopening of the plant that was producing the Viper.

The Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit was closed in July of 2010 when production of the Dodge Viper ceased. The plants reopening will be bringing back about 150 jobs. The hourly employees who had been working previously at the Conner facility were the first to be offered the chance to come back. The jobs that were left will be filled by people who can volunteer to move to the plant. While the actual production of the new Viper will not begin until late 2012, the employees have already begun their training and orientation that started this fall.

This is a flurry of great news concerning the Viper. Not only is the infamous car returning to the road with a brand new model, but the very people who were responsible for making the Viper are coming back. Chrysler really did a great thing here with bringing not only the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant back online but making sure it was staffed by the employees who previously worked there. It is not much of a surprise when looking at the numbers they produced. In 15 years, the plant and workers built around 12 cars a day, totaling 22,070 Vipers. More solid car news and even better news for Detroit's car industry. As Ralph Gilles put it, “We're extremely excited that our ultimate American sports car will continue to live on and be produced exclusively here in the Motor City.”

Hispanic Scholarship Fund Recieves Large Grant from Chrysler

The Chrysler Foundation will be providing a $50,000 grant to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The fund is the nation's largest provider of college financial aid for Latino students. This grant will provide support to Hispanic students that are in the study of the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This latest offering will be the next in a long line of support that Chrysler has had with the HSF, a relationship that started back in 1986. Since that time, Chrysler has given more than 25 grants to HSF totaling more than $750,000.

The grant was announced during the keynote presentation at the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's annual Fiesta Hispana Gala that was held in Dearborn, Michigan. Fred Diaz, the president and chief executive officer of Chrysler de Mexico and Ram Truck Brand said, “The future of our country, indeed, the future of Chrysler Group, more and more demands that we take an active role in supporting the development of highly motivated, highly trained technical leaders with diverse backgrounds. Chrysler is committed to ensuring that a diverse group of leaders drive the next era of innovation which fuels the country's economic growth.”

Chrysler has long been considered a leader in diversity. The company was just recently recognized by Diversity Inc magazine in their March issue's 2011 “Top 50 Companies for Diversity.” This will be the fifth year that Chrysler has made the list since the magazine started the list in 2001. Chrysler has also been given acknowledgment by Hispanic Business for its strive for greater diversity. The magazine honored the company for having strategies that reached out to more Hispanic customers and for pursuing business with minority suppliers. The company has earned this every year since 2009. Chrysler is a company that is always looking for new ways to be more encompassing and more welcoming of anyone who is a perfect fit for their company.

Ram 2500 Named Pickup Truck of the Year

Four Wheeler magazine has named the Ram 2500 Power Wagon its “2012 Pickup Truck of the Year.” John Cappa, the editor of Four Wheeler, had a great deal of praise for the powerful truck. “You can't beat the versatility of the 2012 Ram Power Wagon.” He continued to heap on the praise, “It's aggressive BFG All-Terrain tires, tuned suspension, disconnecting sway bar, selectable lockers front and rear, and a Warn winch make it nearly unstoppable off-road, yet it's still civilized enough to be daily-driven.” He also had more good things to say about all the features that the Power Wagon has. “Add in 10,200-pound towing capacity along with multiple useful storage compartments, including the Rambox, and you end up with a remarkable factory built truck that easily deserves Four Wheeler's 2012 Pickup Truck of the Year award.”

The magazine makes sure to put the truck through its paces before giving it the award. Every vehicle that took part in the contest had to be either entirely new or have had substantial mechanical revisions made to it from the previous year in order just to qualify. Fred Diaz, the CEO of Ram Truck Brand, puts it, “The folks at Four Wheeler magazine are serious off-road experts and have once again honored the Ram Power Wagon with this significant industry award.”

The Ram 2500 is all about heavy duty quality, that's what the editors clearly saw. “Its aggressive BFG All-Terrain tires, tuned suspension, disconnecting sway bar, selectable locks front and read, and a Warn winch make it nearly unstoppable off-road, yet it's still civilized enough to be daily-driven.” He continued on about the great features the Power Wagon has to offer, “The Power Wagon crawls over the most difficult rocky terrain just as easily as it speeds over rough dirt roads or commutes on smooth highways.”

The Ram 2500 Power Wagon is worthy of being an award winner. It's no surprise that Four Wheeler recognized this fact as the Ram 2500 is all about dealing with harsh terrain with heavy power. Jeep Grand Cherokee Wins Drive's 4WD of the Year

Chalk up another win for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The latest victory for the popular Jeep vehicle comes from Drive, an Australian automotive guide. The Grand Cherokee was named Drive's best 4WD of the year, managing to take the crown from the returning champion of the Land Rover Discovery 4 SE. From the sounds of it, the judges were very impressed overall from the entire package that the jeep had to offer.

One judge remarked of the Grand Cherokee “It's now pretty good. They've fixed the interrior, and it doesn't have that plastic garden furniture feel to it any more.” Among the features that they were enjoyed was the rain-sensing wipers, the auto headlights, tire pressure monitoring system, and even a full-color touchscreen with Bluetooth. All these amazing features and the Jeep still manages to capture a value of 50k (EU). Other features that earned their mention was the safety package that the Grand Cherokee has with seven airbags.

One last part that definitely had the judges talking was the improvement of driving the Grand Cherokee. As one judge noted the Grand Cherokee is “good to punt along the road.” The website and judges singled out how quiet the driving was and just how reasonably direct the steering was considering that this is an off-road jeep.

The judges really saw the value in the car. They appreciated that Jeep was still offering a fantastic package with a reasonable price. The interior was impressive to them, taking note that it really was an improvement and didn't have “that plastic garden furniture feel to it any more.”

The Jeep Grand Cherokee definitely hit a note with the judges. They walked away liking every aspect it had. Ranging from the price to the way it drove off-road, they were fans of the jeep. It's hard not to see why it's such a good vehicle. To learn more about the Jeep Grand Cherokee or to get one for yourself you can visit Bayside online or follow them on Facebook or Twitter.

November Chrysler Sales Beats Estimates

The month of November was a good month for Chrysler. The sales for the month, with a volume total of 107,72 cars and trucks, was the best year over year sales gain in 2011. With retail sales going up by 51 percent, November was the sixth consecutive month that had sales gains of at least 20 percent. Chrysler Group found themselves managing to outdo the average industry sales in 10 months of the year. The company saw their sales go up by 45 percent which was much better than the analyst were predicting.

The car that stood out among the sales figures was the Chrysler 300 full size and 200 mid size. The Chrysler 300 have a 215 percent sales increase and the 200 was ahead of last year's Sebring by 496 percent! Other major names that also saw excellent sales numbers were the Dodge Avenger, Durango, and the Charger. The brand itself had an increase of 43 percent from last November. On the Jeep side, sales were up 50 percent, bringing in the brand's best November sales since 2003 and the 19th consecutive month of year over year sales gains. The Jeep Compass and Grand Cherokee were the major winners for that brand. The Wrangler also set a record in the month with sales up 41 percent for its sixth consecutive monthly record this year.

This is fantastic news for Chrysler. It is such a strong show for the month and really shows that car sales are starting to turn around. With so many fantastic vehicles to choose from, all from notably and reliable brands, it isn't hard to see why so many consumers are sticking to Chrysler and all the brands.
