The HRC is the educational arm of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, America's largest civil rights organization dedicated to LGBT equality. Ratings are based on the workplace policies and benefits. If a company gets the perfect score, that means that the company provides full parity for domestic partner benefits. This is not just in basic medical coverage but in retirement and benefits that affect families' medical and financial well-being. The standout for Chrysler Group's perfect score is that the company features coverage for transgender individuals which the HRC says has been notoriously overlooked.
In response to the report, Nancy A. Sea, the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Chrysler Group, said, “All of our employees at Chrysler contribute to the success of our Company. Chrysler Group prides itself in creating an inclusive business environment in which all people and ideas are appreciated and respected.”
The HRC report giving Chrysler the perfect score comes just after the company was also named in Hispanic Business magazine on their Diversity Elite 60 list. In March 2011, Diversity Inc magazine also named Chrysler on its 2011 list of “Top 50 Companies for Diversity.” This now sixth consecutive year for the company shows the commitment to diversity. It has been a hallmark of Chrysler to be continuing striving to be the best, especially when it comes to diversity and respect for people of all races and sexuality, and they take pride in the recognition they have received from the Human Rights Commission and Diversity Inc among others.
